Prepared for life, not just exams

Tom Grainger

Non-Exec Director (Chair, Governance)

Tom spent most of his working life within the local government sector. He trained as a public finance accountant and held several senior finance posts, including finance director. His final job in local government was as Chief Executive of Weymouth and Portland Borough Council.

Since leaving council work, Tom has undertaken some consultancy work, but mainly supported in a voluntary capacity a number of charities or not for profit organisations. He has served as a director and chair of Ansbury, Vice Chair of SafeWise and continues to fulfil the role of Clerk to the Chesil Sailing Trust. Additionally, for several years he has been Vice Chair of the Joint Independent Audit Committee for Dorset and Devon and Cornwall police.

Tom chairs the Board of Directors at 360. In this role he has responsibility for making sure all directors work together, focusing on the longer term and supporting and holding to account the executive team.

‘360 is putting young people right at the heart of its activities. There can be few better causes than giving people the skills, knowledge and confidence to face up to the challenges that life throws at us. I’m delighted to be able to play a small part in supporting the team to create and deliver those skills.’
